It is legal (and easy enough) in /etc/fstab to bind mount part of a NFS
file system to somewhere else. But, this does not work reliably with
the current /etc/init scripts.
Essentially, mountall needs to be run again, after NFS mounting
still exist with karmic kernel, not with latest jaunty one.

Cannot change mouse cursor theme when compiz is enabled
Setting LCD brightness doesn't work on a MacBook Pro 1,1 using the
latest Karmic (updated this morning). XOrg recognizes the keys however
xbacklight reports No outputs have backlight property and

The kernel team have uploaded 28.16 security bugfix for jaunty. Now the
vga=xxx is deprecated present on my jaunty64 28.15 kernel has been removed
with this last 28.16 kernel.

The tomcat6 patch is splitted here in two different chunks:
- tomcat6-1.debdiff merges the maven POM changes into the Ubuntu package
- tomcat6-2.debdiff adds some changes to provide compatibility links
so that the jars can be found and used as in the current version in karmic.
It now seems that this may not be an xchat problem. I happened to notice
yesterday that when I started my laptop up there was a little flicker,
almost as if gnome-panel had been killed and then restarted instantly.
If I do this manually (with killall gnome-panel gnome-panel from a
terminal) then

After some more usage, I can see that the system is still unstable.
Sometimes it boots OK, sometimes it ends up with a black screen. I'v
been searching through the logs and found that when the black screen
appears there are no logs saved, just empty files (at least this goes

Yes, I have a Belkin optical mouse w/ scrollwheel.
I tried several mouses, but none of them caused me any problem, the same
happens for other usb pen drives.
Do you think it could be an hardware related problem like an FS damage?

i deleted moovida's config folder and started again. this time i only
added a folder /data/music/flaclocal/Imelda_May. i have attached the

I added to the bug here so it wouldnt be a duplicate but I started a
forum thread. Sorry, wasnt accurate.
Xorg.conf was in a HD installation, not live CD. Will try to get the log
file when I'm home next to that desktop pc.

My system doesn't have any speed problems when the error occurs. I have
an AMD Athlon X2 5200+ on a Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4 (rev. 2.0)
motherboard with SLIed 7900GS cards running and no ECCed RAM (667MHZ
Ram). I just upgraded from 9.04 with no errors on that. I'm running the
185 nvidia proprietary
Another update, after unmuting last night and raising the volume, at
boot up this morning, I found that the setting has stayed and the volume
had stayed at about 65% as set last night.
I don't if there'd been an update yesterday that had fixed it, but seems
fine now for me.

Sorry, now I red this workaround once again and removed sl-modem-daemon
then removed .purple and killed pulseaudio. Now sound works fine so
workaround is ok.
