I can confirm this issue on my up to date 9.10. It seems to me that it
would be better not to ship this feature if it is broken. I am not
expecting the default video player to allow me to search and play videos
on Youtube and I don't think a lot of people would miss this feature. On
the other hand,
I'm doing the updates through the terminal for now, with the command "sudo
apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade". If update manager doesn't work,
it's a quite serious bug. But otherwise ubuntu 9.10 is the best OS I've ever
seen, really great stuff, thanks for that.

I am experiencing the same behavior, which seems to be increasing in
frequency. The screen unfreeze suggestion did not work for me and I've
had to hard reboot several times. I have previously had a compiz related
crash. But I am running a plain desktop with no visual effects enabled.

I'm having some issues getting a backtrace. I have installed amarok-dbg,
but I simply can't get either Apport or KDE's crash handler to catch
Amarok crashing.
I notice that KCrash catches the crash, but never does anything...
Note that this isn't Kubuntu. I'm running standard Ubuntu 9.10, but I g
"normally" though. Maybe I just didn't wait long enough.

I think this bug is affecting me as well, though I a relative newbie. I have a
dvi to hdmi connection for my monitor. When I have this monitor connected the
computer all I get after grub is a blank screen ( and I can't ssh to my
computer, no matter how long I wait). The computer boots fine

I got the same "issue" as Mr. Schinstad. When I have Evolution on another
workspace and I receive a new mail on any of my two mail accounts, it doesn't
any other number than 0 in parentheses. I also don't really get the difference
between an unviewed message & a unread message.
