First, a kerneloops update was issued last night (see bug 471137) that
effectively neuters kerneloops by default for karmic, so you should stop
seeing these once you apply the update. (It can be re-enabled by editing
/etc/default/kerneloops)

In Ubuntu 9.10 the problem is solved :-). No error message at all, it
fixed all problems with my notebook (VAIO VGN-NS21Z) except some 3D
effect dont work (like maximizing windows). But it will be probably
cause the new kernel version.

I have had numerous problems with my X200 when resuming from suspend,
nothing starts up after opening the lid, the "moon" is flashing. This is
with fully updated karmic with the release kernel.
I do not have any more information as the machine never comes out of

Unfortunately I don't know a good site to learn about ubuntu from ground
up, I can only suggest specialized sites. A google search or a good unix
book from the library will probably help to get a better understanding
of the system. Its somewhat complex but worth learning

Ladies and gentlemen here comes the solution:
I realized by connecting to the machine via ssh that actually everything is
running, ie. GDM, X, Pulse, whatever you just don't get to see anything which
is due to a completely out of range resolution of horizontal 268kHz, vertical
281Hz.

it is about 3 months ago when i changed the vid card. i dont remember if
i removed the driver, but very likely not. iirc some nvidia stuff was
removed at upgrade to 9.10.
when i now look into synaptics related to nvidia i have

Since I upgraded to Karmic, I have the same problem with the same sound card !

system, so I am attaching a list of packages on my system.
Martin, it seems the package 'automake' is responsible for the install-
sh that configure is dying on for you. Is installing that package
sufficient to build debs?

I tried to change volume using rhythmbox slider (on top right corner) or just
using mouse wheel over this button.
But rhythmbox crashed.
I can reproduce it always if constantly change volume during 2-5
Properties of /usr/share/icons/Amaranth/.icon-theme.cache report it is a
TrueType font.
It will not open with Font Viewer or KFontView.
Perhaps it is corrupt.

In Karmic the Login Window Preferences option from the GNOME System ->
Preferences menu is missing. I'm no longer able to configure gdm graphically.
Something I was able to do until recently and in Jaunty.

I enabled karmic-proposed and installed the qemu-kvm and kvm package
from there. The problem goes away and my VMs are ok for 8 hours from now
with virtio in network interfaces.
