OK. You have to uninstall libcompshad -- this package was for Hardy, and
it is obsoleted by libcompshad3. Only *after* uninstalling it you will

As for nxagent... I am sorry, not supported. If you have an issue with
it, you will have to contact the PPA authors.

I had exactly the same troubles with MS Mouse. I was trying to install
Bluetooth/Bluetooth analyzer from the Ubuntu Software Center (Ubuntu
9.10). Did not help, so I've removed it and it took also the bluetooth
applet with it. So I've tried to get it back and in the process

This affects me too. "modprobe pcspkr" resolves the issue. This might
also affect other things that are really supposed to beep, like ping -a?
(That doesn't seem to beep for me even with pcspkr loaded.) Either
pcspkr should be enabled when beep is installed, or it should be enabled
all the time

Well, my workaround seems to have succeeded. The 32 bit version of
xtightvncserver fixes the crashing (or seems to so far). To workaround
the bug, you'll need to login via ssh or locally since xrdp is buggy and
will crash before you can enter the commands. But the commands to
workaround the bug

I have this problem too (Acer 3810TG). Writing to that file hs no
effect, and powertop keeps suggesting that.
