Hi, I need help with ibus. I use Chinese - py to enter Chinese
characters and it works perfectly with Firefox, OpenOffice, etc.
However, ibus can't seem to recognize Empathy chat windows as input
windows, since it displays "No input window". What should I do to enter
Chinese characters for my chats

I installed Lucid Kubuntu, I set automatically login. But kdm still pop

After a lot of trials I have somewhat solved the sound problem
although not perfect.
This is exactly what I did so far.
I made a full installation (dual booting with windows 7) with
dedicated ext4, swap partitions. No sound yet.
I removed alsa using synaptic package manager.

I had upgraded from juanty to karmic, successfully, most everything was
working. I had even run updates after, then suddenly during an auto-
update everything was failing. I ended up installing fresh 9.10 so I
can't try anything on the old system now.

well... when the bar isnt there not, I tried moving the mouse on all the 4

Binary package hint: banshee
Banshee doesn't recognize the media player when it's plugged in, it freezes.
The underlying MTP programs are working, I used the command line tools to
verify. I downloaded version 1.4.3 source for which karmic has all the

We don't have pulseaudio by default - so, as of now, we can add
README.pulseaudio somewhere in doc/ folder.

SOLVED
setting a boot option: i8042.nomux
1) sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
2) change the line
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
to the following
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i8042.nomux"
3) save
4) sudo update-grub
5) restart the system

Banshee refuses to connect to a DAAP share hosted by Firefly-1586SVN
server. It says that it is unable to connect to music share. Other
players, such as Rhythmbox have no problems connecting to the wanted
share.
