SOLVED
Guilty was a mistake in apparmor profile - no relevant entries that define
access to the file / etc / manpatch.conf and other files man.
In the attached file - defective apparmor profile for / usr / bin / man

Regardless of sa-update, we still need to provide fixed packages since
we can't assume all users will enable sa-update.

default kernel on Karmic, and 'uname -r' prints out '2.6.31-16-generic'.

I am on a Samsung NC130 anynet netbook which also uses the Atheros
AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express). I have similar problems
with WiFi dropping out randomly. I am occasionally able to reconnect,
but usually only a reboot fixes the issue.

I have a similar problem as carfer in post 152. I've been
troubleshooting it for some time and even contacted realtek support to
no avail. After several drivers from them and several loads of Ubuntu,
they said "it's your environment". So I reloaded windows 7 on my 64bit

At one point I found that I had mistakenly set Plymouth to use the text
splash rather than a graphic one resulting in not seeing/noticing
Plymouth during boot. Switching back to a graphic one, ubuntu-logo, I
was able to see the screen.

The cronjob is disabled by default and sa-update only got a corrected
FH_DATE_PAST_20XX on Jan 2nd, before that it was identical to the one in
the released version.
