I have workarounds, but it would be great if they were better, for these two

Its a similar problem, (resolv.conf no longer a symlink) but I think its
related to running the openvpn manager and bailing out half way through
a vpn setup.
Apologies I dont have anything more conclusive, but I do recall it
breaking resolv.conf and thus DNS which I manually fixed.

I have the same problem in a fresh 9.10 installation on amd64. I have
all the bad and ugly gstreamer plugins + w64codecs from medibuntu.
Opening totem (gstreamer) from nautilus fails as it fails to open via
totem /media/cdrom0/. But it works via totem vcd://. The VCD is
created with Windows Movie

Hi, I wondered if this bug still exists for anyone? If you used KDM
whlie having GDM installed then this bug should be a dup of bug 491483
which was fixed a while ago for gdm. (Still exists for gdm-2.20 though)

I can confirm solution #15 by Remco Poortinga - van Wijnen works just
fine for me. Thanks a lot Remco. And why haven't they released a patch
to fix this? Not good.

Any more information about this?
My current workaround is having a laptop with Hardy running on it,
ideally I want to upgrade to Karmic or Fedora 12, something which I
can't do right now because only the Hardy version of tightvnc viewer
will work with SC.

autofs is used to automatically mount filesystems via nfs (including the
home directories of users). During the boot process autofs is started
but does not work, hence the login into the Desktop fails since it tries
to access the user directory.
