Hmmm, that was very weird indeed: the SD card reader is actually working for me
now. When I insert a card it is found at once with Nautilus showing the drive.

For the original problem, why not remove eth0 from auto in
/etc/network/interfaces, and call ifup eth0 from rc.local?
It appears to me that there are conflicting requirements when interfaces should
be configured. I like to have the

Seems as if this is a kernel problem: Allegedly the dm-loop function is
not part of the mainstream kernel, but an externally available patch.

It is not possible to copy a large amount of data from Ubuntu 9.10 (EXT4) to a
external NTFS hard-drive.
This makes Ubuntu freezes when there is about 10 GB from the 70 GB transfered.

The problem was fixed in a new debian version (see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=542007) . Attached is a
debdiff against the new debian version. Includes the fix from Matthias
Gug ( * debian/control: Change build dependencies to MySQL 5.1. ). The

I'm closing this report because the issue was related to the update of
gstreamer-plugins when upgrading to dapper. It's not relevant anymore.

FWIW, I've been testing lucid, and there seems to be caching of the menu
now that makes this a non-issue for me.
