I confirm that this is still happening in karmic, I have the same issue,
and a lot of the fixes above either don't work, or the file that they
are changing doesn't exist to begin with. I'm running a fresh install
using kubuntu on an amd64 platform.

Well, if TCP is supported (and even is the default!) I think it should work. I
see switching to UDP as a workaround that I was lucky to find. There is no
sense in accepting that a provided feature (NFS4 over TCP) does not work
reliably. It would be better remove it, so other people don't fall
i need to run pulseaudio into console each time i reboot (with sudo)

work.
To clarify: Shortcuts involving keys that differ on Dvorak and Sholes

OK. What I meant was that if we continue shipping these files, then we

Related to bug 505452 (eeepc_laptop module which provides the hotkeys no
longer loads). That bug also contains a workaround, which however is not
perfect (some people had problems with ethernet after that)

An additional note, #485488 only applies if you use pulseaudio. If you
bypass pulseaudio (as I guess many people looking for low latency do)
