I confirm this issue on a Lenovo X300 6478. The tip given by Jack Lecou
works for me on both Karmic Koala and Lucid Lynx Alpha 2, either in 32
bits or 64 bits.
I confirm the same misbehavior while selecting the "Internal Analog
Stereo" device.

I've been using Kubuntu Hardy 8.04 on this laptop for about two years
now. I never had any trouble burning CDs with K3b until recently. Sure
enough, not using "auto" mode fixes the problem.

For what it's worth, I also see this bug in 9.04. As a work around, I
noticed in synaptic that tcl 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5 were all installed. I
uninstalled tcl8.4. ds9 was also uninstalled. Idownloaded ds9 from the
author's site, and that worked without complaint.
