So this isn't a Puppet bug at all.
It looks to be a bug in the Ruby Timeout module that seems to be
triggered when most of your cores are busy.
I can reliably reproduce it by firing up openssl speed (n-1) times where
n is the number of cores and then using the Timeout module.

Confirming, tested my Trendnet TFM-560X modem on Jaunty (laptop) and
Karmic (desktop). Jaunty works perfectly, but the karmic computer
sometimes fails to control the wvdial process. A fairly insane work
around which works for me. Reboot computer, open a terminal type sudo
gnome-ppp, enter root

The issue is not really an hundredpapercut one, shares are mounted for
the session until the user unmount those. The reason why smb ask for the
password again is that some shares need different credentials for write
access for example and giving the default login informations would break
that
Any news about this. Could be really good fix it for Lucid, at least
remove OK/Cancel buttons.
An additional note. I'm not sure, but sometimes it seems to me that the
confirmation dialog opens unfocused, I've to click it in order to
interact. This seems bad to me, 'cause probably people that
try this it is an over ride side of code i have found. It works for me.
