Just happened again. This time there were no messages in any of the log;
it just hung until I rebooted.
I have so far seen the following behaviour plugging in the same external
USB disk:
1) Everything work
2) System hangs. There is a message in the syslog relating to the USB drive
having been

I had downloaded C:\wubildr as in comment 90. But I didn't see that windoze
didn't let me copy the file (the date was still Feb 9th). When I brute force
removed the file and then downloaded the file from comment 90, the date did
change and I booted in Ubuntu and voila, it

something else.

I just ran into this in fully updated Karmic. See below the heavily
sanitized email. Evolution displays an attachment named
attachment.dat. When I double click on it, it is treated as a text
file, which opens in gvim for me.

There should be a way to vote bugs up.
The default behaviour is seriously annoying. Lots and lots of keyboard
shortcuts use FN keys, and having to press the fn button on Apple keyboards to
access those shortcuts REALLY IS a finger excercise. Please, plase change

Same problem with an Acer Aspire 5000, Turion 64 Processor (shit), 2 GB
RAM.
I cannot watch at a streaming video for more than 3 minutes than the
computer crashes down for overheating.
Now, overheating was always a problem of this computer, but seems to be
has been exasperate by Xubuntu 9.10
