OK, further testing reveals there are two issues:
* The FORWARD chain is blocking connections from CLC to instance
* The CC doesn't know the way to the metadata service (missing VNET_CLOUDIP)
Defaulting to accept on the FORWARD chain works around the first issue:
sudo iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT

I can confirm it on a Lucid laptop. It worked before, but now the icon just
disappears and appears.
After upgrading to 2.29.2-0ubuntu9, the pulldown-menu with battery statuses

The kernel output is the same minus the usb messages (and the drive is
sda6 instead of sdb1). I think the problem may be in the usb controller
wakeup. That would affect sata as well, since it floats off the usb bus
internally.

duplicate of bug 520149, so it is being marked as such. Please look
euca-authorize sets up a rule that is specific to a user/security group.
For example, if you are using admin credentials and the group you're
authorizing is 'default', then the rule will apply to all instances run
by 'admin' in the group 'default'. If you acting as different user, say
'foobar',

sudo dhclient
With this I understand that a call to dhclient by NetworkManager does
not work while a manual call does work...
