After some upgrades, reinstalled xserver-xorg-video-nouveau to try out.

LVM autopartitioning is working for me now on a simulated Apple system,

If this is in installer mode, please reassign the bug to ubiquity (not
sure why guigui14100 changed the package) stating that in your opinion,
ubiquity should be in fullscreen mode in installer mode to not have to
use the scrollbars on small screen size.

I'm afraid I can't try a new Ubuntu install as in the meantime I
installed Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.2 on the machine and put it into
production.
With Debian I haven't experienced the issue in all the Linux upgrades from
2.6.26-2-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Jul 26 20:35:48 UTC 2009 x86_64

I can replicate the D-Bus failure locally with sudo chmod 600
/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket. This needs to be fixed in gupnp itself,
adding task.

It has to be a g-p-m issue. notify-osd by itself doesn't trigger
anything. It is a daemon an just sits there waiting for something to
display.
