I forgot to note above that even the current version of openclipart does
not build in lucid so there is definitely something wrong with the
packages used to build it and it appears from the build log that the
package that is at fault is inkscape.

I'm using the 10.04 beta the font in firefox does not appear to be using
the subpixel smoothing. The fonts are very ugly, and hurt my eyes.
Because of this I have been using chromium which renders the fonts fine.

@arky: Looking at the attachment in this bug report, I noticed that an
attachment was not flagged as a patch. Subsequently, I've checked the

Adding blacklist=vga16fb nouveau.noaccel=1 works. Desktop is up and
running. I'm using FireFox now to update the comment.
The transition from the splash (plymouth? Ubuntu with the dots
underneath) to desktop wasn't an issue. Screen went black for a couple
of seconds and then desktop appeared.

Nope. This is on a desktop system with an external USB keyboard. There
is no direct connection between the sound hardware and this mute LED.

When I boot 10.04 beta I see a bunch of text for several seconds before
I see a blinking cursor then right before I reach the GDM screen the
splash will pop up for about a second. When I log out I just see a bunch
