I am running the Lucid beta and the behaviour seems to be exactly the
same as previously with backport-modules. That is to say for the
microphone to work with Pulseaudio, the two channels still have to be
unlocked and one set to zero.

I just finished an update, rebooted, logged in, closed the laptop lid.
When I opened the lid, I was at a login prompt and not an unlock prompt.
After login in again, all open apps were no longer running, but I no

But to apply a work around 'nomodeset' to get the system working.

I have found this same or a very similar issue on a dell 1545 with intel
video, and with beta1, and updated to current (3/24). I tried the
suggested fix, adding i915.modeset=0 and using UMS. While it kinda
killed the splash screen, I discovered that a lot of the times I was
getting these mystery
