ok i am a bit new to ubuntu so i was stuck. It seems in order to kill the
screen saver you have to issue
sudo killall gnome-screensaver
again after doing
sudo chmod -x /usr/bin/gnome-screensaver
so this seems to be the temporary workaround for now.

X crashes screen goes between blank and
I kept a partition with lucid hoping this would get fixed but just wiped
it and installed maverick Alpha 1 + all updated (through tonight)
bringing it to kernel 2.6.34-5. Sadly I still can't connect with either

Has everyone who is reporting their wireless fixed rebooted more than
once? After Chase's kernel failed to fix my wireless issues I decided
to try kernel 2.6.33.5-lucid from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v2.6.33.5-lucid/ (which has been reported to work). I was
able to log in to

Binary package hint: tinyproxy
Tinyproxy's default configuration is to user nobody:nogroup.
This is a bad idea if other applications are configured to use nobody or
nogroup -- I've filed bugs for other applications
Update for Lucid users: hda-verb is now packaged in my ppa - install the
package snd-hda-tools to get it. You don't have to compile it yourself.

I have observed the same thing manuarmata did: the hotkey *always* works
when a CD is already inserted. Is this true for everyone else here who
is experiencing the bug? Sounds relevant.

I did, about two and a half times, but I'm still confused. All I really want to
know, as a Lucid user, is if I'll have to use AllTray permanently or if it will
