I am using plain old gnome calendar, straight out of the box, albeit with an
extra country configured.
For me, it seems it takes forever (5 seconds) to load and show.
But this is only the first one or two times I click it.
Subsequent times it is fast again.

Oops, correction to my previous posting. I remembered that the iso
download I'd used successfully before in VirtualBox wasn't actually the
same download I was using with USB Startup Disk Creator. So I just did
an md5 check -- sure enough, the version I'd been having all the issues
with was corrupt.
I captured the result of "lspci -vvnn".
I experimented until I fount the correct init value:

- Suspend and Hibernate all worked fine in 9.10
- Upgrade to 10.04 - I can manually select shutdown or hibernate and both work

card was switched to Digital Duplex (I don't remember doing that - ?)
and is working again once switched to Analog Duplex.

Just chirping in here to say confirm the same issue on D945GCLF2D mobo running
Debian. It seems to have started after the 2.6.30 kernel. If I boot into
2.6.30 kernel, I get sound and no "hda-intel: spurious response" messages. If
I boot into 2.6.32, I get tons of the spurious response messag
