Hi. I can reproduce this hang too. In fact, I first experienced it in
9.04 and reported it. But in 10.04 it is even worse! At least in 9.04 it
was possible to kill the Nautilus process and stop the file transfer;
now I cannot stop it. Nautilus becomes a Zombie process. Unplugging my
LAN cable

Hello,
I have a Nikon camera, and this bug is simply a showstopper. It takes up
to one hour to import my photos, and again one hour to geotag the
photos.
Is there a workaround ? I've recomplied libexiv2 from source (0.20) ,
then libkexiv and digikam using apt-source, but it is still linked

It's possible that this could be caused by faulty hardware, but I doubt
it. This seems to come up every other Ubuntu/Debian upgrade reinstall I
do. I noticed this with Mint8 fresh install. After upgrade it went away.

Confirming the exact same problem. 10.04 i386.
This cropped up after I installed the Opera browser (10.11, deb from
their website) and played with Unity (added ppa:canonical-dx-team/une
and installed ubuntu-netbook-unity-default-settings package). I don’t
know which of the two caused that.

Ok, here is some more info:

# cat /etc/group | grep -e 108 -e avahi
messagebus:x:108:
avahi-autoipd:x:111:
avahi:x:112:
# cat /etc/passwd | grep -e messagebus
If I change the UID for messagebus it will be the same id as haldaemon
so I don't think I should do this.
Really I can see nothing wrong with the ids. There are no duplicated
id's.

when the launcher is run it builds up and displays briefly and crashes with
segmentation fault .
it appears to be a problem with the items to be displayed ... meaning the
structure build for displaying probably is faulty.

Just letting know, that 7zCon.sfx is there on Karmic and Lucid and will
produce a Linux self extracted binary.

Hello again,
As an update to my previous comment (No. # 57),
I have now built and installed the Alsa version 1.0.23 drivers and both my
headphones and microphone jacks are now working!
My thanks go to finding this ALSA upgrade script:-
I deactivated the photographs as well - formatting message
dissapeared so far.

I have the same problem as well. I cannot unlock Login Screen Settings.
I looked for a resolution and used the following:
1. Open Terminal.
2. Open the custom.conf file with gedit: gksu gedit /etc/gdm/custom.conf
3. Enter configuration values:
[daemon]
AutomaticLoginEnable=true

I've a fresh install of Ubuntu Lucid 64-Bit. It's up to date and running
on an Acer Aspire 5735 (that was running Hardy perfectly I should note)
Since the install, I've had problems where the /var/log/messages file
fills with ACPI errors...further, the system becomes
