By the way, this is not the first bug I report here with absolutely no
response from some support team.
Fedora is not like this... the community is obssessed by closing bugs.

Update to my bug report above. Seems to occur after returning from
screensaver or a suspend. I've found that hitting Alt-Tab, Alt-Tab (as
opposed to Alt-Tab-Tab) solves the problem until the next
screensaver/suspend event.
Perhaps this is related to the Firefox bug posted here:

Just added the PPA, updated, and restarted. The patch works perfectly:
my brightness controls work now. (I'm running Ubuntu 10.4, 32-bit on a
Dell Studio 1558).
I didn't have any of the hang problems with sleep, but now I s'pose I
never will.
Thanks! : D

This still happens for me in Lucid, with Firefox 3.6.6
Not sure what constitutes a low priority bug, but it's been an issue for

Interestingly, having disabled OOo quick starter, I was able to log out,

I have a similar problem. I have a system with 4GB of RAM, and more
than sufficient space in a swap partition (about 8GB). I can hibernate
more than once (at least twice), but if more than a small fraction of
the RAM is in use (e.g., say about 2GB or more), then the suspend to
