I did upgrade a small laptop which is using a nVidia 8400M GS chip to Meercat
Alpha 2+ and it's performing way better..

The hda-verb fix does work. The apparent failure was due to a second
issue, where /etc/rc.local does not execute on startup.

caused to me very slow dns responses, because this is foreign dns. It's
visible when you right-click nm-applet and select connection info. In
karmic this never happened, but in lucid it's happening often. It's not

I have an HP LasterJet 2420d and for the most part my pdfs print fine
from evince. I have run into documents though, that just fail completely
to print. They leave the print queue as if they had been printed. When I
use Adobe Reader to print these documents, gs takes 100% cpu for quite
some time

Acer Aspire L5100 boot problem (9.04)
An update. This should be used instead:
echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/DEV/disable_ipv6
echo 0 /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/DEV/disable_ipv6
This seems to work if NM's ipv6 setting is ignore, but if it is set to
Link-local, then NM appears to somehow block the new address. I
