I tried upgrade from 8,04 to 10.04 again (latest fixes) w.o luck. 3 problems
were discovered
- dmraid don't activate raids after upgrade but drops to initramfs boot. I can
wait forever ...
- giving dmraid -ay and exiting initramfs gets boot continuing
However, upgrade was not clear either

Oh, sorry, I forgot to add one other thing i tried: simply letting the
10.10 installer erase and use the whole 240GB fakeraid device. The
result was the same: it installed and formatted, but grub failed to boot

An update, kamstrup needs to make the .place files available to intltool
in both places, and then unity will automatically pick up the
translations from both those files.

Can you please give us the exact time you had everything working and
when it broke, and attach your dpkg.log here?
Did you reboot in between those update batches? Some package updates
(especially those who trigger an "initrd" rebuild) may cause issues to
appear first after a reboot.
