There are reasons why gconf-editor is not exposed by default and why tweek
tools are not installed by default, to avoid users accidentally

Following the above, I did this:
1) stop nfs server daemon, unmount /home, stop /dev/md4
2) make a new md4 with default chunk size (64KiB) but otherwise the same as
above
3) made a new xfs filesystem on md4 using md3 as log device, as before
4) mount this as /home, export via nfs
5) restore
I confirm that the latest version of policykit in James's PPAS fixes the issue
and I'm unable to reproduce the original behaviour.

The ~/.cache/software-center directory gets created as root by update-
software-center *if* the user upgrades via sudo (and sudo keeps $HOME).
The problem is in the softwarecenter/paths.py that creates the cache
directory if it does not exist.
updates via update-manager are not affected!

I just upgraded one of my systems to Maverick, and the bug seems to be
solved out-of-the-box there.
However, it seems that they just dropped in the upstart script from this bug
without much thinking, resulting in somewhat of a mutant resolvconf, because
a) the upstart script assumes the modified
I have the same problem on Maverick RC. My location in time zone
settings was Asia/Istanbul. Changing to Europe/Istanbul fixed the
problem. Why was it set to Asia in the first place? Installation was
done the usual way with correct location selection being made.
