Here is how I solved this in Ubuntu 10.04. First, thanks for the tip
above to use Ctrl-Alt-Left Click for mouse clicks (Note: try also Ctrl-
Shft-Left Click, whichever work). This workaround enabled me to do:

Interestingly, if only the TrackPoint has failed and the keyboard and
trackpad are still working correctly, unloading and reloading the
'psmouse' module will solve it.

3. When I send tweets in twitter client of Gwibber, I need to send twice or

I have confirmed this bug on UBUNTU 10.10 on AMD64 X2 processor
after a clean install using the ALTERNATE CD.
Blocking /dev ( added "!/dev" to /etc/aide/aide.conf.d/99_aide_root )
restored normal operations and "aide.wrapper --init" completed
correctly.

I do not think that it has to do with Adobe Flash player running during
the suspend/hibernate and resume, but haven't specifically tested for
this.
