I am sorry, that comment about the patch to cxlapack.cpp was my mistake.
Nevertheless, the bug can be fixed (at least on i386) by building the
package with an empty debian/patches/ directory. Since my original guess
was wrong, I can only speculate that the problem is related to
fix_3rdparty_build.p

I have the same exact problem on Kubuntu 10.10. Just did first time
install of gscanpdf, then scanned 2 page document, tried to save it and
got the above error. The PDF is still created fine after I click on the
error. It seems I cannot update from your ppa at this time to the
version you have reco
