Per Mario's question I can confirm that Precision M is also affected by
this. They have the same breed of touchpad that these Latitude E models
have and use the same keycode sequence to turn on / off the touchpad
(Fn+F5 with 0x9E)
The information from /sys/class/dmi/id/sys_vendor is:
On apt-get dist-upgrade, it will not update your server to Ubuntu 10.10.
Instead it is used to install new versions of packages, for example your

i just started empathy and hacked in my icq and irc accounts, joined 2
irc-channels and wrote some lines, clicked links in one channel. in that time i
closed my contact list.
furthermore i switched all empathy windows to workspace 2 via hotkey.

fixed by unscd, a nscd drop-in replacement which was recently packaged
