Sorry for bringing this up again, but I see quite similar symptoms on a
current natty install with kernel 2.6.37-5 and dbus 1.4.0-0ubuntu1 on a
DELL E6510 laptop (NVIDIA NVS 3100M). When I try to suspend on battery
(which fails because 2 tasks fail to freeze), dbus starts acting mad
and currently

used, and then just replace the file in debian/patches.)

After my upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS, my /usr/lib/update-notifier
/update-motd-updates-available was bad, too. It actually exec'd itself,
hanging logins infinitely!
Reinstalling update-notifier-common using apt-get fixed it.

ALSA driver modules, or by the fix pointed to from this issue (of

Just installed UNE 10.10 Maverick on Acer Aspire 5100-3949 and saw this

If someone was able to access the box, create ~/bin and then drop a
malicious script in there, then what would stop them from editing files
that the user owns? Nothing.
It seems it's something specific to Debian, as a CentOS 5.5 box I have

This patch, fixes the bug.
The lp:~3v1n0/gwibber/failing-messages-loading-fix branch has also a
generic fix for avoiding that no message is shown when just one (or a
small subset) is failing.
