Currently, I have to use external programs (like pppoeconf) to get a
working internet connection at some places. This causes problems because
after setting up pppoeconf, NM stops working. It seems that both NM and
pppoeconf edit the same conf files,

There were a few typos in the commands Stefan suggested. (Replace
sunprc with sunrpc)
So try:
sudo sh -c 'echo 32767 /proc/sys/sunrpc/nfs_debug'
And
sudo sh -c 'echo 32767 /proc/sys/sunrpc/rpc_debug'
I'd be interested to see whether this clears up any crashes at your end
as well.

I found a bug related to this one.
NetworkManager must REWRITE resolv.conf with new DNS servers obtained
from openvpn, rather appending these ones to resolv.conf.
I.e. if NM obtained DNS servers 1.1.1.1 and 2.2.2.2 from openvpn,
resolv.conf must contain ONLY them after success connection,
And somebody, update pls proirity for this bug to higher.

versions of plymouth and grub on my maverick install and it looked fine.

debian_bundle.debian_support doesn't support control files
Suddenly, the problem is gone. I didn't even restart. All I did was
remove a few applications like Empathy and Evolution. The problem was
still there after I tried the suggestions I found somewhere such as
messing with /etc/hosts and turning off some rendering feature.

I tried reinstalling to no effect. Also, I have tried different
locations (I am in New York city). Other locations in New York (such as
Albany) get an updated forecast, so the problem appears to be specific
to New York city. None of the NYC locations (Central park, La Guardia
Airport, or
how to deal with the various cases (having DNS from VPN appended or
prepended to the existing DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf).
They should neither be appended nor prepended. Because in any case libc
uses all of them.
DNS from VPN must be exclusive in resolv.conf while VPN connection is
active

I have stocks in NSE (National Stock Exchange) India and I do not have
problems pulling quotes for other stocks from Yahoo Finance, by setting
