I notice an “nvidia-installer.log” file added to the bug report. I think
I did use a manually-installed version of the driver a (long) while ago,
but as far as I know I’m running nvidia-current.
I don’t know if there are any other traces of the manual version left,
is there a way to find out?

Note that you can actually record using wodim/cdrecord; it's just that
Brasero (and Nautilus' built-in CD burning dialogs) say the CD has not
enough free space. I'm getting this on a Thinkpad T60 trying to record
a blank (fresly unwrapped) CD-RW.

I should note that I get past the problem if I use the IP address,
rather than the hostname, during setup. It still prints out the
Unknown... and Ignoring... messages though, so they are obviously
warnings.

desktop (to gnome-settings-daemon).

There's two options I can see to fix this for regular users:
1. Revert back to 10.10.3.
2. Fast-track Nobuto Murata's fixes from maverick-proposed to maverick-updates.
In the meantime, users are still confused, and spurious bug reports are
still rolling in.

This works better in 10.10, as in it boots and I have access to all the
partitions I created. However, fdisk still complains that the partition
does not end on a cylinder boundary, so something is still not quite
right.
