The problem you described in your initial bug report sounds different.
Fwiw, black screen on boot is a generic symptom that can result from a
wide variety of different underlying bugs, and tends to be highly
hardware-specific
I can confirm that this bug hit me too on i386 Maverick, and following
the ln procedure in
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1610258.html fixed the
problem. (Removing and installing findimagedupes its deps did not
help.)

Shotwell 0.8.1 will run on Lucid, but neither the Ubuntu repositories
nor the Yorba PPA contain Shotwell 0.8.1 for Lucid - you need to build
it yourself. See the instructions on the Yorba web site, and feel free
to ask on the Shotwell mailing list if you're having trouble building.

I experienced in the 2.6.37-rc3 kernel which I built with Mike Galbraith'
patch. Besides this it was not stable, there has been some lock-ups when kms
was enabled. Furthermore, none of the Meerkat live usb's had it fixed for us
(which ship with the *35 kernel so far) .
No luck so far :(

This bug was actually fixed as a side effect of the Ubuntu installer not
generating an xorg.conf anymore and letting X autodetect the hardware on
startup instead. X by default does not enable the Emulate3Buttons flag
(I speculate having this flag enabled in the default xorg.conf file was

Hey Travis, could you boot xorg-edgers once more and run 'apport-collect
702090' while running those versions? I think the next step for this
bug is to go upstream with it, and they'll expect all the files to show
