I have exactly the same issue. The crashes only occur while actively
using the computer. I usually have Amarok, Kopete, Firefox running when
this happens.
After the crash I see TTY1 but Amarok keeps playing until I stop/restart
KDM.

sources being out of date or with possible host resolution issue or
archive inconsistency.
There was a period of time when ubuntu archives on ec2 were broken.

Yesterday was trying to execute the Wolf Geldmacher's comment (#12), but for an
accident the solution was stopped in the middle, before the step that recovers
libs from the backup folder. The result was that the PC was not able to reboot
anymore, neither in normal boot nor in recovery mode. The
