when I close and then open the lid the backlight comes back with roughly half

mention that the system started the upgrade. In my case (see logs) it
downloaded packages, started installing it then froze in the middle of process.
Then later, after hard reboot, it was unable to continue the process
I should have described howto reproduce the bug:
Start Devede, click add under files list, click the file to choose a
movie file - crash happens when the info from the movie is
read/displayed in the GUI.
I used a .mov file captured on my iphone.

I can confirm this.
Installed smb4k, went to 'settings - Configure smb4k', under 'super user',
changed any setting, clicked apply. After that, permissions of the file changed
from 440 to 640.
Rebooted in recovery mode (root shell), changed permissions back to 440:
chmod 440 /etc/sudoers
The text stays in the field always, except for deleting the text. Quite
annoying, think it should have a high importance.

Yes, I'm sorry for that. It tooked awhile for me to find out the main
reason for that. The only thing I'm not sure about is the question which
package is causing this.
Installation is not an upgrade from 10.10, I've installed this version
freshly two days ago from an actual Daily-Build Image.

but you have 2.6.32-28-generic log files.
Please execute the commands
