Yes it is correct that for amd64 SSE is enabled by default in the
compiler. But (if I'm not wrong) the FFTW --enable-sse flag does not
(only) set compiler flags. Instead it activates the specially written

Hi oneman, thanks for reporting this bug, and sorry it froze up.
Unfortunately in this case the apport hook was unable to collect
actionable data on the bug. Sometimes it does that... I think if
there's insufficient memory it'll fail.
We've had some other reports of gpu lockups with sandybridge;

as bug 742175, and then X crashed since it didn't have memory. Like
that, my guess is it's *probably* not X but some other client that's
gobbling memory. But I can try to help you diagnose the problem better.

Not certain where the bug exists, but the laptop is running very hot to
the touch. I don't hear any fans at all. Seems like a pretty serious
problem if Natty cooks my laptop :(

Fourth problem... from the logs it looks like first nouveau tried
loading, and things seemed to be going ok but then -intel popped into
the mix and started loading (this is what generated the crash).
