comment, eventually I get to a partial contact load of 1093 contacts (of
a total 1800+). The following screenshot shows this precise secondary
failure point that I see consistently, across one reboot now, if I leave
my contacts
I solved it, updating kernel to 2.6.38.2 and changed "options
snd_hda_intel model=lenovo-sky" for "options snd_hda_intel model=auto"
and voilà. Thanks to all and I hope this stays stable at the next

It runs compiz with the unity profile as root, yes, but rather than
being a security/permissions issue I would guess it simply wouldn't
connect to the user's X session and Gnome services and crash due to
that. Do it without sudo for useful output.

needing the following modifications in Natty due to the KdScreenInfo
data structure definition changing -
screen->fb[0].depth
screen->fb[0].bitsPerPixel
should be:
screen->fb.depth
screen->fb.bitsPerPixel
Xephyr would not launch
I just uploaded a fix, but accidently put the wrong number in
debian/changelog. /shame.

System is on now for one hour (3600 secs) after a restart and no signal
of a "Samba reload" as stated at #30. smbclient -L [..] correctly shows
all shares but the printers. Either the same bug exists in Maverick 64
or a similar bug affects at least my system. Anything I could do besides
"sudo servi

Could it be something as simple as network-interface.conf emits net-
device-up for loopback and in turn mountall-net.conf fires then fails
and then mountall (or plymouth??) enforces a boot wait?

11.04 is not using the classic desktop and this is not a current
priority for us, sorry.

Ah, I understood this bug wrong. It's a the menu entries flashing white,
the other bug is concerned with the menus themselves flashing white.

Both my laptop and desktop had kdm running on maverick, and on upgrading
to natty, when choosing the Ubuntu session I got logged in but with no
UI shell (as far as I could tell). I had compiz running, but no window
decorations or menus.
