I am also seeing this problem, If I vnc to my workstation running
Ubuntu 10.10 (all the latest updates) and start Eclipse it comes up but
crashes when I select menu items such as 'File-Open' or click on a
project to expand it... if I ssh to my workstation with -X and start
Eclipse it works fine,
I'm afraid we'll need full log files to understand why this is failing.
Please run the installer in debug mode (press Try Ubuntu, then run
`ubiquity -d` from a terminal window) and reproduce the bug. When it
crashes, run `sudo apport-collect 678234`.

Alright, I've found the issue, this is due to libgnome-keyring not being
at the last version.
Please try to update it to version 3.0 from the gnome3 ppa

the issue is a en_GB translation one combined with a small bug in the
gnome-desktop gettext use, it gets translations for any key in the
.desktop and en_GB translated the first letter from g to G in the
software name which is also the icon name
