gnome-open uses firefox while it's not the preferred browser
I seem to still be experiencing this problem. I installed a command-line
only system with the Natty amd64 Beta 2 alternate CD, and when I booted
up all I saw was a blinking cursor at the upper-left corner of the
screen. Ctrl+Alt+Fn where n is in the range 1..6 all gave me usable
virtual terminals,
same issue with radeon x1600 and open source drivers.

The problem is that there is an event queue which fills up and is never
drained by the application. Here,
This seems more like an opinion to me. Because the Dash, by design,
covers the whole screen, even if the shortcut menu is folded. The Dash
must only cover of half the screen when the shortcut menu is folded.
Then by clicking the background (other than dash) closes the Dash.

When ever I logon from GDM to the Ubuntu session, I simply get a wallpaper and
a mouse cursor.
When I switch to a different tty, I can see that unity isn't running with "ps
aux | grep unity"

This bug affects me as well. Though it's never been that much of an issue since
i got to this bug and tried to reproduce it myself.
Yeah, Super + S is perfect, no Dash opens. Same behavior must be with other
Super-Key shortcuts as well.

Haven't got it to repeat the crash yet. Simply crashed on restarting
desktop after login and running pointer over launcher.
