Actually, there was no updates for gtg or light-themes. Just unity, cups,
gnome-panel, desktop-file-utils, X.Org, D-Bus, GLib and Kerberos updates. But
GTG now has a white background as it should, that's the main thing. :-)

Got my hopes up way too soon about the drivers downloaded from Brother
(#13 above).
As suggested in #17 I too have contacted Brother, and I have to say

I'm pretty sure b43-fwcutter is just to make the b43 module work. This
bug however is about making the wl module work. wl (bcmwl) should
already have built-in firmware because it's a proprietary driver. Though
using b43 (hence removing bcmwl) might be a feasible workaround for some.
Also,
I've now tried the nouveau driver and it works. That is, I can see the launcher
bar and the top bar.
However the launcher bar doesn't hide correctly, but could be unrelated to this
bug.

and considering that it's only for the default wallpaper, which didn't

better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security

Have you attempted to reinstall dmraid to verify that it is not present
in the package or try running dmraid from the terminal? I'm having a
similar issue, but mine is with dmraid installed and not recognizing my
array right off the liveCD then freezing when it doesn't know how to
handle it.
