This is not a hardware fault as an install of 10.10 works fine (with

Just a note in case, like myself, anyone stumbles on this page.
I was having very similar issues where I was getting installer crashed about
3/4 of the way through. Redownloading, re-burning, USB installs all failed.
Finally, I loaded up the Live mode, disabled the viperlab repos Software
this delay was also set to 0ms for a few days but it turned out it
created a few problems in certain cases so was reverted. I have added
ayatana-design and setting the status to incomplete for unity bugs as we
wait for a response from people involved in the design of the desktop.

Thanks for the photos. Yeah looks like the compiz process triggered a
page fault in the radeon drm module which caused a kernel OOPS.
IMG_0686 has the clearest call trace. I'll add that to the bug
description.
IMG_0689 shows the top of the oops report pretty clearly.

Verified on Xubuntu 11.04 beta 2.
Upstream xfdesktop crashes when the user logs out or tries to
reboot/shutdown the system (with xorg-server 1.10). This makes it
impossible to reboot or shutdown the system as a user while logged in.

Casper could you report that issue for 'jockey' package using
'ubuntu-bug jockey' from terminal. a similar issue bug 547066 was
fixed in the past
