My problem is solved by now. I do have output on my 2nd monitor (VGA).
I did not install "natty" (i think), but with very much help I was able to
remove all of the leftovers of the proprietary graphics driver. We later
updated the Kernel from 2.6.33 something into 2.6.38-8...My second monitor

Booting fails 3 times, works every fourth time after new install
I tried to flash again, but this time I waited after the beep when
rebooting, after 20 sec a grey screen has appeared with apple's logo and
a charge bar . It was similar to this image

But two seconds later the screen turned black

I have the same issue on a MacBookPro5,5. I followed the procedure
described in the link posted by Gabriel. After the "bless" command and
rebooting (again worked only on the 5th time), I tried to run the .pkg
for my firmware. It said that my computer did not need the update. Then
I shut it down. Wh

I'm not an expert but I found a way to mend the problem of unity top panel
hidding the first lines of guake (maybe a little naively because it works only
for guake).
1. Open /usr/lib/guake/guake.py for edit in geany or gedit
2. Go to line 835
3. Increase the variable "window_rect.y" from 0 to
also , same issue has occurred in TOSHIBA Satellite M300
it was working properly in the previous version but when i upgraded to the
latest version the issue has appeared

patch for the VFS101 (138a:001) just works on the VFS101 and VFS201. On
the debug file when you try the driver on the VFS301 it gives errors
that we don't know jet what could it be. The driver (or patch) for the

option to boot into recovery mode at boot up. Then if I run failsafex

On my eeepc, the fan has been perpetually "on" since I did a fresh
install. The CPU never gets much higher than 15%. Seems to me it would
be dialing itself up or down. I've seen this mentioned during the Natty
beta with regard to the Thinkpad, but it looks like something that
I just wanted to add to this discussion as I'm having almost all of the
same problems mentioned above. Black screens have not been as much of a
problem, although this has happened once or twice. However, my menu bar

I get exactly the same problem in an HP dv3 with a fresh-installed Natty. I'm
using the proprietary driver from ATI (v11.4) with unity and compiz running. I
have radeon and intel_ips modules blacklisted.

Bug is still present in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick when trying to Upgrade to
11.04 Natty.
Proxy: without Authentication
Proxy Settings: Only present in System settings - not using environment
variables
Didn't try suggested fix in #5 since I discovered the bug after successfully
upgrading w/o proxy.
I filed a bug about this issue when my bug report was tagged as a duplicate
