In unity, triggering the screen redraw by hitting the super key (the
one with the windows symbol on it) works for me. If you don't just tap
the key, but hold it down for 0.5 seconds, the black dash overlay
doesn't pop up. Easier than clicking around with the mouse. Still

indeed this looks unrelated to the upstart job. The problem with
/etc/cups symlinks is that if you have one, cupsd seems to die
immediately, and then upstart tries to start it again:

No it is not fixed, because of the postinstallation script error.

Basicly the plugin is a menubar and get's most of its look from the

I experience a similar behavior. I've setup Deja Dup to backup daily on an
external drive (no data encryption). The scheduled backup often fails. When I
check the preferences I can see that the destination folder has been reset to
Amazon S3. Other preferences are saved (encryption, schedule).
I can confirm unity --reset solves the problem.

i found it happens in wget, sftp, untar.
when file is downloaded for a longer time, or file is decompressing, system
hangs. When using sftp, it takes ~90% of CPU, other time ~1%.
Ubuntu 11.04 (the same was with 10.04 also)
Hardware is:
DELL server;
1 CPU is available
Run
even i can login to server with ssh, i cannot neither kill the process,
nor reboot the system by typing reboot

For the record, these are the two relevant commits (on the 2.0 stable
branch) that fix this upstream:

A quick followup: about the 'threads' issue, this seems to be a bug
related to ipython (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/777420 and
https://github.com/ipython/ipython/issues/185).
This is fixed by upgrading to ipython 0.10.2, which is available from ubuntu
oneiric (no additional dependency
I tested Catalyst (FGLRX) 11.5 from AMD's website. The problem still
exists.
