Pardon my ignorant question, but: do people working on the Linux kernel
test it on several different machines (including the highly popular Asus
EEE PC) before releasing it into production? I'm just surprised a
critical bug such as this made it into the Ubuntu Mint release ISOs.

Ubuntu bug status to Triaged as it seems it is a known issue and fixed
upstream. If the original reporter can verify this, that would be ideal.

I have noticed that the bug persists in Natty. Although the coping is
working in the background the dialog doesn't give any feedback
whatsoever with files a couple of GiBs in size.
