I'm not familiar with TrueCrypt or how to get it, but this sounds like a
new way that they are using menu. It's kinda difficult to say how that
is without looking at the source.
A work around is to modify the TrueCrypt launcher so that it does
UBUNTU_APPMENU= before executing the executable.
this bug occurs on my laptop when I use the version of ubuntu 10.04.1,
10.04.2 and 11.04.

The default Dell Duo resolution is a 16:9 ratio and is set to 1366x768.
This is too small. You can use another preconfigured resolution of
