I try using Oneiric with original GNOME3 fallback mode. I installed the

When I login the fallback session, and if I pull down the system menu with
ALT+F1 key, the applications menu is empty. Not pres
Simple upgrading from corrupted version to one from proposed repo didn't
did the trick for me. But reinstalling fixed version after that fixes
the problem.

Yes. not working in 11.04 the task appears in Hamster activity drop down
menu if you open Hamster and type the first letter(s) of it but it
wont start automatically when you press the Hamster Icon (I don't know
if its the desired behavior or a Hamster bug!)

I see this problem if I using Oneiric latest daily live CD with fallback gnome

Hello,
I solved this issue shortly after submitting the bug report. It was a "noob"
error - the host operating system (OSX) had the sound muted,
so there was no sound in the VM (ubuntu), even with all the correct settings
and the volume turned to full.
Apologies if time was spent on this. I tried
Log file shows no input devices. Possibly some issue with udev.

I think I've found the fix for this one - it's described in bug 800527.
Could you try 10.10 with the kernel from the -proposed repository?
