I don't think a hard dependency is the right thing to do. deja-dup
should handle a missing couch.auth by displaying a error message and
maybe, like you suggest, prompt to install ubuntuone-couch.
deja-dup already Recommends ubuntone-couch (= 0.2.0-0ubuntu2) which is
enough in my opinion.

I was experiencing this bug and can confirm that Seth's kernel fixes the
issue.
Connected to AP within seconds, previously would not connect unless I
sat the laptop on top of the AP, and even then it was taking a good few
minutes.
