1. It is only expected to work on Ubuntu 11.04 natty. Andrea's comments suggest
the same workaround won't work on Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric.
2. You need to make sure the change to monitors.xml is still there. Sometimes
it gets overwritten when you log out and in again.
This should be fairly similar to how the trashcan icon on the launcher
works when you drag a file into it from the desktop.

komuta, can you please tell me how to suspend my system when I want to,
after applying your workaround? It seems to leave the system completely
unable to suspend(hibernation is not an option here, no swap) and I do
need that sometimes.
