Changing the Mirror in Software Center worked for me.
Though the update did give me a Black screen near the end. I had to reboot and
run the Update again so it could fix everything it missed.

blinking slightly every two seconds and a bit stronger every few seconds on my
desktop PC. Previously I had gentoo running with gentoo-kernel 2.6.30-r4 and

I can confirm this on another Sony Vaio S (VPCS11V9E) running 11.10. All

The easy solution would be to simply scrap Unity. You won't miss it.
sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm
select "gdm"
log out
select "gnome" and log in
