On 11.10 this seems to be the only workaround to fix the bug:

Depressing the power button (only tried while logged in) or selecting

If you have the official one (4:4.7.4-0ubuntu8), could you please update your

The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for PID 8126 (/usr/sbin/smbd).
This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault.
