Actually, I forgot to mention a few significant details: I'm using
IcedTea plugin with Chromium on Debian sid. The IcedTea packages should
be more or less the same for Ubuntu and Debian, though something in the
environment could trigger the difference.

More specifically, sometimes after a wake-up my entire theme is wrong,
and it looks like a default Gnome theme has been applied. Re-selecting
my theme in Appearances fixes everything except Nautilus itself (i.e.,
the title bar is fixed, but not the "internal" window). So I see the

.xsession-errors when I will be at home.

I'm experiencing this bug in 11.10 with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650.
It happens regardless of the number of monitors I have connected (0-1).
It's mildly annoying in that it hinders my ability to debug the shutdown
process. I had a script that was blocking shutdown. Normally I would
