Bug 930672 has been marked as a duplicate, so I just wanted to point out
that this most recently occurred for me using the i386 20120211 Precise
Ubuntu iso after installation, then installing 'gnome-session-fallback',
logging out and choosing Classic (No effects) from the login menu.
Create the directory and file and add the contents to it that Fritz
Heinrichmeyer suggests. It works.

This seems to be fixed now for me, at least for the libwebkitgtk 1|3
ubuntu3 packages.
In the process of troubleshooting it prior to finding this and you
issuing a fix, I'd removed apt-get -f install to try and fix, and
removed ubuntu-desktop, gwibber, and a ton of others. Now get the same
thing

The work around is to simply create a ~/.xbindkeys.noauto file (note the

which means they are not duplicates.

Not possible to enter password for a new user in KDM (Maverick,
I was constantly having this same bug: oneiric would crash and the logs
would state that the GPU has fallen off the bus. What I did as a
workaround was to issue the following command:
nvidia-smi -pm 1
What this does is it turns on the nvidia's driver persistence mode.
However, you have to do this

GNOME Shell in Maverick is an unsupported pre-release and the code now
is dramatically different than it was in 2010. Ubuntu 10.10 will no
longer be supported at

I solved it in Oneiric by marking acpi=off in the startup menu (F6), but
then I can't connect to wifi.
