Having pete downgrade to 3.2.2-0ubuntu17 resolved the problem.
He also found the crash only occurred when the wacom tablet was plugged
in; unplugging it worked around the bug.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 dev (amd64) with apt 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu4 and have
set 'APT::Install-Recommends 0;' in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/90recommends.
apt tries sometimes to install packages on a dist-upgrade which are not
a dependency of any of the installed packages. Here is an exam
I tried all three release clients (3.3.0-030300rc1, rc2, rc3) and still
the problem persists. Its the same in all three.
I have also tried enabling TRIM (adding 'discard' to the fstab file)
without any success.

Still having an issue like this on SN78SH7 Mobo with AMD Phemon triple
core, regardless of kernel - been happening since 2009 and is still
happening.
Key criteria:
USB devices connected, even only a hub with no other devices chained off it
BIOS - USB setting for HIGH SPEED enabled - if you set it

Well, my LDAP is configured in pam.d and nsswitch passwd field is
compat.
Right now, only I can login from our domain (yeah and "guest"). Why does
nobody tell the 'designers' what the actual requirements are in the
field?

however, I'm still flagging up the main issue which is:
"If I take a screen shot using Print Screen and I don't have a
/home/$USER/Pictures directory I get a crash pop-up saying "Sorry,
Screenshot closed unexpectedly"."
