Having same USB issues on precise beta kernel which does not allow me to
install (USB read errors). Can easily reproduce the handshake "force
halt" error by dd if=/dev/sdb of=/dev/null bs=1M every time as well. I
am having AMD E350 based laptop. The last kernel to somewhat work for
me was 3.0.0.7

Same problem here, NON encrypted partition. I had even deleted my
previous user before booting the ubuntu livecd and installing. So there
was no users setup on the partition I wanted to mount at home, only a
folder called "backup" with all my stuff in it.

I just noticed that Network Manager isn't using --proxy-dnssec for the local
resolver.
Using this option is important for environments where the client (firefox or
similar) is actively checking for the DNSSEC flags.

VLC is to set Video Output Module to X11 in Advanced Settings under
Video > Output Module
